going back to the horse...

This is my 5th day off in a row from work. I needed these days to get back to what is important to me {back to basics}. I went back to my horse and "played" with him on Monday and rode bareback in the arena. Yesterday I put on my english equestrian riding gear and saddled Rocky with the english saddle. I rode him like their was an instructor in the arena watching my technical moves and it was like I had been riding him everyday for the past 4 months, he was so "on" or "one" with me. I have not been riding much this summer or fall, but I know that it is therapeutic for me. Horses (all animals) are always honest and don't play mind games.

Change is coming for me and I made a big step at work and moved to a different location, away from too many distractions. I am going for my Level III Healing Touch practicum Fri, Sat and Sun and have talked to my favourite HT colleague and she centered me and gave me good suggestions to work thru some struggles. I knew something was building in me and I am looking forward to moving through the change. I was forgetting who "Donna" is and what I want to stand for. Today I am on Rocky again and working with him and he working with me. It is a partnership.

I went to an early morning Yoga practice yesterday...and this week I will attend the "back and hips" class in place of my Wednesday class. This is all real good stuff for me but it is hard to sometimes adjust to the different schedule and environment...but it makes me grow. Doing Yoga is so uplifting and leaves me with such confidence in myself. My Yogi friend (Shirls) confided in me that she could finally do the standing poses (which involves strong ankles and legs and good balance)... She almost started to cry because she was finally doing it! That is what working hard and not giving up means to me and then when you succeed it can be emotional! go Shirls..

I have had to watch some of my old friends, be in the background in my life and that is hard too, but I still keep in touch once in a while and see the growth in them as well. then.... all of sudden you have new friends standing in front of you.

..oh I cannot forget the wonderful door opened to me in January of this year when I started blogging and created a little website..how fun this is for me to do!

it all started with "the horse" ....and then some new friends..

Sounds like you are getting everything centered to where you need it to be. A person gets caught up in work and forgets that 'real life' is outside those office doors! Our family, our four legged (and two legged) friends, the activities that make us happy; blogging and yoga! That's the good stuff!

this was such a great post donna. it is so good to be able to self reflect and take time to do the things that you enjoy. i think you will find your new corner much quieter and peaceful to work in...and this is a good thing!
isn't it funny how in life we put off doing some things that we really enjoy and once we take the time we are shocked we don't do it more often? i am so glad that you enjoyed your days away!
